Grosvenor UK Poker Tour announces 2008 scheduleAfter a highly successful debut throughout Great Britain in 2007, the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) and its sponsor, Blue Square Poker, have announced the dates for its 2008 season.

As was the case last year, each of the 10 tournaments during the season will have a £1,000 buy-in, except for the Grand Final, which is £3,000. The events usually draw some of the best poker players from across the British Isles.

Winners in 2007 included such notable names as WSOP bracelet winner Praz Bansi, former EastEnders actor Michael Greco, EPT champion Julian Thew and the always-dangerous Dave Colclough. At the end of 2007, Michael Ellis was able to take the Grand Final when he overcame a difficult 197-player field to win the championship.

MMA legend to host charity poker tournament

MMA legendRandy “The Natural” Couture is preparing to take his fight outside of the octagon to raise some money for charity. The Mixed Martial Arts legend will host “Operation All In,” a charity poker tournament, Jan. 12 from 1-6 p.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The tournament will benefit the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation, which was formed by Randy Couture and his wife Kim to raise money and awareness for armed forces members who were wounded in action and their families.
